Dr. Hauser’s Patient Results with Invisalign® – Before and After Bottom Teeth Were Crooked and Corrected
About Invisalign®
Invisalign® is a method of orthodontic treatment that is much different from the traditional set of metal braces. Invisalign® uses a predetermined set of clear, removable teeth aligners to gradually straighten teeth over a short period of time. More than 730,000 patients have undergone this treatment since April 2008.
Align Technology, Inc., manufactures and designed Invisalign®. According to Align, more than 35,790 doctors are qualified to provide Invisalign® treatment in the United States, and 48,130 doctors globally.
Orthodontics
Braces, clear or metal, work by putting pressure on the misaligned teeth. Eventually, this constant pressure forces the teeth into their proper positions, and the bone alters itself to hold this new position in place.
Traditional braces are made out of brackets are wires that are attached to the tooth and are adjusted by a dentist to straighten teeth. While braces are efficient and get the job done, they can look unsightly and need a lot of maintenance. Invisalign® helps in these areas because it is invisible and does not require the same amount of upkeep as metal braces.
Treatment Process for Invisalign
Getting Invisalign® is an easy, three-step process. First, it’s important to speak to an Invisalign® dental provider to ensure that it’s right method of treatment for you. Also, keep in mind that finding a dentist who is specifically trained in this type of treatment is crucial. Dr. Hauser is a trained Invisalign® dentist who has gotten his patients amazing results using this dental technology.
Next, your dentist will take several x-rays, impressions and photographs of your teeth, which will be used to create a digital, three-dimensional image. From this image, your dentist will map out a treatment plan that fits your teeth and complements your goals. Using the same technology, your provider will be able to show you a virtual representation of how your teeth will straighten throughout the treatment process.
From there, you will receive your first set of aligners. These are made out of comfortable, smooth, BPA-free plastic that will not cause irritation to your cheeks or gums like traditional braces do. Wear the aligners throughout the day, and remove them when you are brushing, flossing or eating. As time goes by, your smile will gradually improve. It is very comfortable to wear the invisible aligners. It takes only a day or two to become quite used to them.
Every two weeks to four weeks, a new set of aligners replaces your previous set. Each new set advances you to the next stage of the Invisalign® process. Occasional checkups with your dentist are recommended so that he or she can monitor the straightening progress and answer any questions.
Treatment usually takes up to one year for most adults. However, for teens, treatment length is comparable to that of braces.
A Comparison Between Invisalign® and Traditional Braces
There are several reasons to choose Invisalign over braces, including:
- Virtually invisible
- No cutting edges
- Fewer visits to the orthodontist
- Rubber-band free
- Patients feel more confident
- Easy to remove
- Proven to correct dental alignment
The disadvantages of traditional braces:
- Require wires and brackets
- Wires are irritating
- Flossing and brushing requires more effort
- Restrictions on food
