Advanced Dentists Use CEREC Teeth Veneers

Dental veneers are an increasingly popular option for many patients seeking to achieve the perfect smile. Veneers can be used to cover up the appearance of small or discolored teeth in addition to reducing gaps. CEREC teeth veneers are particularly preferred among patients because this advanced Sirona system technology allows same-day teeth placement with optimal aesthetic quality.

Lakefront Family Dentistry provides patients with top quality veneers using CEREC’s Bluecam Precision technology. Dr. Derek B. Hauser, DDS, has over twenty years of dental expertise and specializes in cosmetic dentistry.

What Is CEREC Technology?

The CEREC system, by Sirona, was originally created by professor Werner Moermann over two decades ago. Moermann originally attempted to scan teeth with ultrasound instead of taking traditional impressions. Although ultrasound was not able to produce the desired results, an engineer named Marco Brandestini eventually applied the same concepts using light.

Moermann was also responsible for the technology’s use of ceramic. He developed a unique way of filing the ceramic into a suitable shape for use within the mouth, known as milling. The modern method uses computerized milling to ensure that the ceramic is shaped to precision.
How Does It Work?

The tooth receiving the veneer will be prepared by the dentist. A small camera is used to gather a few images of the tooth, instead of using the conventional impression or mold. The images are converted into 3D on a nearby CEREC computer, which is used to design the veneer.

While the patient waits in their comfortable A-dec chair, the veneer is created from a block of dental grade ceramic. Blocks are available in a variety of shades to ensure the veneer will match the patient’s teeth. Once an appropriate fit is achieved, the dentist will bond the veneer to the tooth, allowing the patient to benefit immediately.

Who Qualifies for Veneers?

Although veneers provide a wide range of benefits, patients must receive x-rays and a screening to determine if they will be eligible for the procedure. The patient must not have periodontal disease or tooth decay. Moreover, a commitment to good hygiene is essential for proper care.

Benefits of CEREC Teeth Veneers

  • Entire procedure can be performed in dentist’s office
  • Conventional impressions and moldings are unnecessary
  • Temporary veneers are no longer needed
  • A veneer can be made within an hour or less

Additionally, many patients diagnosed with TMJ make use of veneers to treat problems associated with underbites or overbites. Used as an alternative to jaw surgery, veneers provide the same efficient results without causing pain or extensive recovery periods for the patient.
